CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Age no bar for CLAT
The NUALS Kochi will conduct Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) 2018 on May 13, 2018. The CLAT 2018 online Application Form will be released by 1st January 2018. Interested candidates must fill the Clat Application Form Online before the last date.
Students who want to pursue LLB degree must be familiar with the CLAT Eligibility Criteria. CLAT Entrance Exam is one of the most popular Law Entrance Exam in India. CLAT is an all India entrance test for entrance into the UG and PG courses in 18 national law schools all over India.
CLAT is an acronym for what is known as common law admission test. These participating law schools organize CLAT each year on a rotation basis. CLAT came into existence in 2008 and before that each national law school used to have their own entrance exam.
CLAT eligibility Criteria for the UG course?
- Anyone who has obtained 45% marks or above in their +2 exam can apply provided they belong to the general category or OBC category or specially abled category.
- Anyone who has obtained 40% marks or more in their +2 exam can apply provided they belong to the SC or ST category.
- Also, those students who are appearing for +2 exam in March/ April of the year of the CLAT exam can apply.
CLAT Eligibility Criteria – Age requirement
The CLAT 2018 Notification doesn’t mention any information about the age for Law aspirants. Unlike last year, when the Bar Council of India (BCI) had introduced an age bar policy on Law admissions and restricted candidates above 20 years of age to appear in CLAT Exam. But, Supreme Court’s stay order on BCI’s age bar policy has given the NUALS freedom to exempt age bar and allowed all the law aspirants to appear for CLAT irrespective of their age. So, there is no age limit for CLAT Exam 2018.

Every college has a different combination of courses to offer. But the courses one can choose from CLAT Colleges will be one of the following

CLAT 2018
The CLAT 2018 would be held on 13th May 2018. The exam as always would be held in the online mode.Candidates can check the CLAT Exam dates from the official website of NLU. All 19 national law schools would accept CLAT scores but the national law schools which will not accept CLAT scores are NLU Delhi and Himachal Pradesh national law school.
Important points to remember
An important point to remember here is that there are some supernumerary seats in some national law schools which are meant for foreign nationals but does that mean that they have to sit for the CLAT exam? The answer is a ‘no’. The foreign nationals would be eligible for direct admission but they will not be expected or allowed to sit for CLAT Exam.
Another important point to remember here is that there are special arrangements for specially abled persons. One has to produce a disability certificate from a certified authority and the definition given in persons with disability act 1995 would be followed.
These students can either come with their own scribe or request the CLAT office for a scribe. If a student comes with his/her own scribe then they have to first fill the scribe declaration form available on the CLAT website at the time of filling the application form.
